Travel Tips

We hope you’re having a great holiday season. Your holiday may be filled with travel this year, so we wanted to offer some helpful travel tips. We also have quite a few ideas on where we would love to travel in the new year, and we’re sure you do too. Whether you are a travel newbie or you’ve been at it for a while, traveling can be stressful. However, it doesn’t always have to be. In this blog post, we’re sharing some of our favorite travel tips.
TIP 1: PACK SMART
Are you the person that’s so excited so you pack two weeks before your trip or are you more of a day before person? Although packing for your trip probably isn’t your favorite thing to do. Packing smart can alleviate the stress you feel and start your trip off on the right foot. Luggage can be expensive when flying so the last thing you want is to check your bag only to be told it's overweight. Packing efficiently won’t only save you some cash but it’ll also save you a headache.
Before packing, make a list of the things you need to bring to avoid overpacking. Instead of putting your heavy coat inside of your suitcase, wear it to free up space, and if you’re hot you could always take it off on the plane. Remember to put all of your personal or expensive items in your carry one bag. Things like your eye mask, headphones, or travel-sized skincare items will be safe with you all while saving room in your checked bag. However, if you’re someone that is a true carry-on warrior, it’ll save you a lot of time to keep your sundries easily accessible at the top of your bag. That way, when it comes time to pass through airport security, you can quickly remove them without tying up the line.
Double down! Consider having a set of travel sundries that live in your suitcase full time versus your at-home sundries. This will eliminate the possibility of forgetting your pesky toothpaste, toothbrush, or hair ties. This can also apply to your chargers. There is nothing worse than forgetting to pack your charger and buying one for twice the price at the airport. Your wallet will thank you!
When packing your clothes for your next trip try first putting outfits together and finding items that can be paired with different clothes. If you really want to get organized consider using packing cubes that can be reused every time you travel. Another way to save room in your suitcase is to roll your clothes, I know you’ve probably heard this tip before but it does work. Try it out, compare folded clothes to rolled clothes and you will be surprised at how much space you can save. And if you are worried about wrinkling your clothes opt for a fabric that doesn’t wrinkle too much.
Pro tip: If your clothes are still a bit wrinkled, toss them in the dryer for a few minutes before wearing them.
TIP 2: SKINCARE IS STILL IMPORTANT
When traveling, skincare can often take a backseat, but it definitely shouldn’t. Not only are you exposed to more UV damage when exposed to the aircraft windshield, your skin can also become dry because the humidity drops when flying. A simple skincare routine can combat these issues and make sure your skin is moisturized and protected while traveling. I mean who wants to look tired while traveling? Not us!
Our skincare duo is perfect to keep you glowing while traveling. The C Level Vitamin C Antioxidant Serum is great for brightening your complexion, it smooths on easily and absorbs quickly to restore, cool, and even skin tone, while protecting from sun exposure. To avoid dryness after your flight follow up with The Layover Overnight Travel Recovery Mask and travel from dry to dewy overnight. This hydrating leave-on mask is specifically formulated to restore skin that's been exposed to the sun and other environmental aggressors. Leave this mask on overnight and rinse off in the morning before cleansing skin and you’ll be vacay ready!
Oh and don’t forget to put on your SPF before heading out.
TIP 3: SLEEP IS ESSENTIAL
It’s easy to get so excited when traveling and end up getting practically no sleep. When traveling by plane for extended periods there are a few must-haves for getting some rest on the plane. Hey, you have to get some sleep anywhere you can.
First, we have to keep a neck pillow because who wants to sleep against the window or wake with your head accidentally on your neighbor 😂🤣. To make sure you’re getting quality sleep on the plane grab our silky soft eye mask. Our mask is dimpled to ensure you don't smear your eye makeup during that mid-flight nap. Pair our eye mask with our compact ear plugs to ensure you can rest easy knowing your hearing is protected from the aircraft's ambient noise.
Pro tip: If you’re sensitive to sunlight while sleeping and forgot your eye mask *gasp*, there’s another solution! Every hotel has a hanger with clips. Use this to clasp together your window shades so you can have a completely dark sleeping experience. This is especially helpful during those periods of jet lag when you’re sleeping at odd hours - or when trying to get sleep in Alaska during the Summer!
TIP 4: HAVE AN AGENDA
Before visiting a new city it's never a bad idea to have a plan, What sites to see? The best restaurant to eat at? After creating a flexible plan of the things you want to do when traveling. Remember to have a budget in mind and be safe and aware of your surroundings in a new city. Although you have an agenda, leave room for spontaneity, relax, and take photos for your memories!
BONUS: Never put your suitcase on your bed (it assures that you won't be completely infested in the event of bedbugs). There’s nothing worse than returning home from traveling to find you’ve brought these guys with you!
